Types of Lenses

Single Vision - corrects vision in a specific distance

Progressives - commonly known as the “no-line bifocal”, usually needed after the age of 40, increases in magnification as you go down the lens to give distance, mid-range and near vision

Computer - provides midrange vision at the top of the lens and near vision at the bottom of the lens, great for  desk work

Bifocals - “with the line bifocal”, again used after the age of 40 which gives distance and near but no mid-range vision.

Technology & Treatments

Digital Surfacing - new technology in the making of lenses which is computer generated to help reduce distortion and provide more accurate results, available in single vision and progressive lenses

High Index Lenses - used mostly for higher prescriptions to reduce the thickness of the lenses

Scratch Coating - a protective layer to help reduce scratches

Anti-Glare Coating - used to reduce glare especially for night driving, reading and computer use, also includes the scratch coating

Blue Filter Tint/Coating - help to reduce blue light that can cause digital eyestrain, headaches, alter circadian rhythms, worsen dry eye symptoms and cause retinal disease
